The Youth Ministry of First Presbyterian Church provides opportunities for Students in Grades 6-12 to grow in their relationships with each other and with God.
Sunday Classes
Each Sunday, the Youth meet for classes in the Morning (10-10:45am) and in the Evening (6-7pm). The lessons in our Sunday Classes explore books of the Bible (recent studies include Gospel of John and Romans), key Christian doctrines (recent studies include the Attributes of God and The Church), and key theological issues that relate to Youth (recent studies include Engaging God’s World and the Gospel in Everyday Life).
Bible Study
Each Tuesday, the Youth meet for Bible Study at the church from 7-8:30pm. Our Bible Study meetings are less formal than our Sunday Classes, and include time for fellowship, snacks, games, prayer, and Bible Study. The lessons in our Bible Study are all rooted in Scripture, but focus on very practical content and application. Recent studies include the Marks of a True Christian (based on 1 John) and Why Be Wise (based on Proverbs).
Special Events
Each month, the Youth have some type of special event, either for the purpose of fellowship, or the purpose of serving our church or community. Past events include game nights, bowling, disc golf, going to the beach, putt-putt golf, movie nights, and scavenger hunts.
Each February, we have a two-day Winter Retreat. This is a time for the students to have extended time together studying God’s Word and enjoying fellowship with one another away from their ordinary surroundings. To view the pictures from our most recent Winter Retreat, click here.
Each Summer, we have a special event of some kinds nearly every week. To view our 2012 Summer Events Calendar, click here. We also go to Ridge Haven, our denominational camp and conference center in North Carolina, for their Service Project Camp. The dates for this year’s camp are July 16-20.
